Groton Parks and Recreation reminds people to wear reflective gear while outdoors walking, running

Groton — The town's Parks and Recreation Department is reminding people who are out cycling, walking, running or taking a dog for a walk to wear reflective gear and brightly colored clothing, particularly at dawn, dusk and nighttime, according to its "Be Safe Be Seen" Facebook post.

Jessica Patterson, the department's community outreach coordinator, said the department is noticing an uptick in people outside and wants to encourage them to wear reflective and bright-colored clothing to make sure they are seen by drivers.

Patterson said playgrounds are closed. Parks are still open but the department is encouraging people to practice social distancing and not gather in groups of more than five.

Gov. Ned Lamont had issued an executive order restricting "social and recreational gatherings to no more than five people," according to the website for the governor's office.
