North Stonington — The North Stonington Agricultural Fair, scheduled for July 9-12, has been canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Due to the uncertainty created by the COVID-19 virus in our community, and with the health and well-being of our patrons, volunteers and vendors being our primary concern, the Board of Directors of the North Stonington Agricultural Fair have voted to cancel the 2020 fair," the board announced in a letter posted to its Facebook page. "We regret having to take this course of action but feel that the early summer date for our fair dictates we err on the side of caution."

The North Stonington fair is the first fair in the Association of Connecticut Fairs' season. Other fairs held later in the season, including the Brooklyn Fair (scheduled for Aug. 27-30) and the Bridgewater Country Fair (scheduled for Aug. 21-23) have also been canceled.

A full list of ACF-associated fairs and their dates and cancellations is available at ctagfairs.org.
