    Quince in quarantine

Olive Martinez-Good, center, reacts as friends and neighbors, led by local musician and teacher Hugh Birdsall, turn out on the street outside her home to sing and wish her a happy 15th birthday Sunday, May 17, 2020 in New London. While her family was not planning a traditional party for the occasion the current restrictions on social gatherings did cancel any non-familial celebration. Coronavirus restrictions on gatherings and travel put a stop to the Martinez-Good family's plans to celebrate daughter Olive's Quinceanera, but they did not stop neighbors and friends from turning-out to serenade her in celebration of her 15th birthday Sunday in New London.

Martinez-Good will be 15 on Monday, and while a large, traditional Quinceanera party was not in the plans, a gathering of friends and family that was still not within social distancing rules. The neighborhood gathering was organized by neighbor and friend Paul Carolan, who recruited fellow local musician Hugh Birdsall to lead the singing.
