Stonington — Friends Janice Gouvin of North Stonington and Grace Dormer of Rhode Island were collecting dried seaweed Tuesday along Dodge Paddock.

Gouvin said she uses the seaweed as mulch in her garden.

"We usually pick up some trash while we're out here as well and clean up a bit, it's better than buying it at the store," she said.
