Exploring Alewife Cove in New London

New London — For at least one young explorer, Alewife Cove is full of things to discover.

Jack Perch, 5, of New London was looking for marine life in the cove Thursday with his cousin Alison Perch-Meikle of Mansfield and family friend Gigi Loucraft of Lebanon. The trio had arrived by canoe in that area of the cove.

Perch-Meikle and Loucraft are in quarantine together amid the coronavirus pandemic and come to New London once a week to take care of Jack while his mother goes to work. Perch-Meikle said they often come to Alewife Cove because Jack is an outdoorsman and they enjoy exploring the cove.
