Run for Ahmaud Arbery to be held Saturday

Alumni from Wheeler High School in North Stonington announced that they have partnered with Positive Tracks to create a virtual 5K, 10K, and half-marathon fundraiser walk/run at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 20, to raise awareness of the murder of Ahmaud Arbery and for African American equality as a whole in the country.

Proceeds from the peaceful charity fundraiser will be split evenly among the NAACP, Loveland Foundation, Fairfight, and Actblue nonprofits, according to the event website.

"The funds give money towards racial justice organizers, financial assistance, mental health support, protester bail funds, increasing voting rights, increasing access to education, criminal justice reform, ending voter suppression, and many other key areas in the African American Community," the website states.

More information on the event and how to donate, sign up as a runner or walker, or make a pledge, is available at bit.ly/run4arbery.
