Old Lyme therapeutic riding organization going virtual with Holiday Market

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, High Hopes is making its 10th annual Holiday Market a virtual affair.

The event, which will run from Nov. 15 to Nov. 28 and can be found at highhopestr.org/market, will feature more than 70 vendors, according to a High Hopes news release. The organization also is hosting a nonperishable food drive for Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries until Nov. 28.

High Hopes describes itself as “a premier therapeutic riding center and international instructor-training site,” the release reads. “High Hopes has served people with physical, emotional and developmental disabilities for more than 40 years, offering year-round programs in equine assisted activities, including therapeutic riding, carriage driving and equine learning program.”

Since 1989 Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries has been “providing food and fellowship to those in need in the towns of Chester, Clinton, Deep River, East Lyme, Essex, Killingworth, Lyme, Madison, Old Lyme, Old Saybrook, and Westbrook,” the release reads.

People can drop off food for the drive in a marked bin by the flagpole at High Hopes, 36 Town Woods Road, Old Lyme, Mondays through Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

“Thanks to our Market Partner, Benchmark Wealth Management, and our other corporate partners, High Hopes was able to make this necessary pivot to a virtual market,” development director Sara Qua said. “This allowed us to continue promoting small businesses and artisans, highlight our therapeutic riding and equine assisted programs and participants and continue to host a non-perishable food drive for Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries.”
