    Saint Bernard names January Students of the Month

    Eighth-grader Amyre Gray and senior Emilia Janes have been named the January Students of the Month at Saint Bernard School. One middle-schooler and one high-schooler are recognized each month for exhibiting Xaverian values of humility, trust, compassion, simplicity and Zeal.

    Gray, who lives in New London, was recognized as a kind, hardworking, determined and respectful student who is a leader among his peers and a positive presence in the classroom.”

    Janes, who lives in Westerly, continues to remain actively engaged in academics while learning remotely and was described as humble, compassionate and a “positive contributor to her class community.”

    ELHS students named in National Merit Scholarship Program

    Three East Lyme High School students have been named Commended Students in the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program. Jay Lin, Margaret Madole and Anthony Wang were selected by the program, which recognizes about 34,000 students nationwide for scoring in the top 50,000 students on the 2019 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying test.

    Lin, Madole and Wang each received a Letter of Commendation from the high school and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation for their achievement.
