Groton — Members of the University of Connecticut at Avery Point baseball team warmed up and held a practice Friday on the campus here.

Coach Ian Ratchford said the team has been practicing for about a month and its first game is Wednesday at Mitchell College, and its first NJCAA league game is Saturday, March 13, at Mercer County Community College in West Windsor Township, N.J.

Ratchford also mentioned that the team hopes to play 25 games this season if the weather is decent and team members continue to have good results from the COVID-19 tests they get biweekly.
