Mystic — Avalia Dougherty was working on her cartwheels Wednesday while practicing cheerleading moves at the edge of a field of daffodils at the Denison Homestead Museum.

She and her mother, Katy Giuliani, were taking a break from hiking trails at the Denison Pequotsepos Nature Center to enjoy the flowers.

"We get out here as often as possible," Katy said.
