Ledyard — Gracie Sajkowicz, 17, of Gales Ferry was waiting longer between her haircut appointments due to the coronavirus pandemic.

So, about 10 months ago, she decided to just let it grow and she would donate her hair to a charity.

On Wednesday, she got her hair — divided into four ponytails each 8 to 10 inches long — cut by stylist Tina Jenkins at Luna Salon in Gales Ferry.

On hand was Gracie's mom, Karen, to document the occasion in photos and video. Gracie and her mother decided to donate Gracie's locks to the American Cancer Society because Karen had leukemia when she was 7 years old.
