Making faces: Garde Arts Center gets creative to fill seats
New London — The latest in coronavirus pandemic-mitigating fundraisers for The Garde Arts Center is taking shape at a local print shop.
"Faces of the Garde" will place fan cutouts, as seen in sports areas around the world over the last year, in the seats at The Garde in the coming week.
Patricia Todd, a Garde board member and president of Blu-Prints Unlimited Inc. in New London, prints and mounts the 18-by-30-inch cutouts in her Howard Street shop.
Supporters of The Garde can purchase one cutout for $150 or two for $250, with all proceeds supporting The Garde during the extended pandemic precautions shutdown. The cutouts will occupy seats in the auditorium until full occupancy is allowed again.
This initiative is just one of a number of efforts The Garde is undertaking to weather the loss of revenue during the pandemic.
