Norwich Italian heritage scholarships awarded

The Italian Heritage and Cultural Committee of Norwich has awarded four scholarships to local students: The Frank Demicco Italian Heritage Scholarship Award; the CapanoFamily/ShopRite Award; the Dr. Anthony Tramontozzi Family Award, and the Mary D’Elia Lord/ Frank Chinigo Award.

Over the years the Italian Heritage and Cultural Committee has handed out over $80,000 scholarships. The award is given to a graduating senior of Italian descent whose work ethic and community service “exemplifies promising qualities for a successful career,” according to a release.

The awards of $1,000 each were presented to the following graduating seniors: Christina Siguencia (Norwich Free Academy); Delaney Farinha (NFA); Zachary Ruta (NFA); and Michael Yohe Jr. (Griswold High School).
