    Groton Utilities cancels boil water order

    Groton -- Groton Utilities announced Sunday that it has canceled its boil water advisory after tests showed water is safe to drink in the areas affected by a water main break Friday on Route 12 in front of the KFC restaurant.

    The boil water advisory affected the Groton Square Shopping Center and surrounding area, Winding Hollow, Pamela Avenue neighborhood, Winthrop Drive neighborhood, Wayne Road neighborhood and all points in between. It included all customers north of Clarence B. Sharp highway through Groton Square Shopping Center area.

    The utility thanked customers for their patience and cooperation. It also pointed out that the “boil water advisory” is a new  policy mandated by the state.
