New London — U.S. Coast Guard Academy swabs, members of the incoming Class of 2025, returned to the city Friday morning at the conclusion of their weeklong training sail aboard Eagle.

Many of them were taking advantage of their liberty to make cellphone calls alongside the ship at City Pier in New London.

The tall ship will be open for free public tours this weekend.
