The Ledyard under-15 boys soccer team took home the State Cup this spring by defeating a very talented Farmington team, 2-1 in the Cup Final. They got there by defeating Weston, 3-0, a forfeit win over Southington, a 2-0 win over Newtown in the semifinals, and then the Cup final win at Farmington.

While this win happened this spring, the journey started years ago when most of the boys were 5-6 years old. The majority of the boys started together at U-9 as second-graders. They played throughout the fall/winter/spring seasons together each year. They attended camps, summer workouts and conditioning programs, practices moved indoors due to inclement weather. They lost heartbreaking Cup games at U11, U12, and U13, but they never lost their confidence. Numerous players have been lucky enough to make premier clubs such as Southeast Soccer Club and two players made the CT ODP team for their age group. On June 19, they became champions. They epitomize what it means to be a team and have left an amazing legacy for future Ledyard teams to follow.

Team members are Evan Casola, Niko Cayangyang, Ben Crowe, Roan Fothergill, Sam Hopkins, Jack Keskeny (not pictured), Cameron Munger, Sean O’Brien, Anthony Santacroce, Finn Scully, Chase Spurley, Ben Syphrett, Paulo Templeton, James Tweed, Lucas Wanamaker, Cameron Weber and Eric Williams.

Coaches are Mike Munger, David Hopkins and Chris Acor.
