Olde Mistick Village founder to sign new book on Saturday

Mystic — Joyce Olson Resnikoff, founder of Olde Mistick Village, will sign her new book about the popular shopping village on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the village duck pond.

Titled "The Real New England Village," the book is published by Buttermilk Channel Press.

The village, which opened 49 years ago, features 40 shops, restaurants, a meetinghouse and a movie theater and is a major tourist attraction. Since then, Resnikoff has become a major player in the local business community.

“I wanted to write this book as a legacy for my family,” said Resnikoff, who still manages the property.

Author William T.S. Butler co-wrote the book with Resnikoff because he felt the story of the village needed to be told.

"No one has written a book about the village and what a community asset it is," he said.

Those who attend can purchase the book, get it signed and ask questions of Resnikoff and Butler.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
