Historical North Stonington schoolhouse open to the public on Saturday

North Stonington — The public is invited to an open house Saturday of the fully refurbished 200-year-old Marcia Thompson Schoolhouse at 63 Main St., on the grounds of the historical grist mill property.

The schoolhouse will be opening its doors to the public free of charge from noon to 4 p.m. on Saturday.

The home is named after Thompson, a former teacher who taught in one-room schoolhouses from 1911 to 1950 and then taught at North Stonington Elementary School until 1960.
