Montville Town Council to vote on proposed COVID-19 relief fund items

Montville — The Town Council will gather in Town Hall Room 102 Thursday at 6 p.m. to vote on the second list of proposed American Rescue Plan funded expenditures.

Within the next two years, the town expects to receive a total of nearly $5.5 million in ARP funds, and already has received about half of it. Last October, the Town Council approved designating more than $1.5 million in ARP funds in the first phase of planned expenditures.

Since the 2021 municipal elections, the Ad Hoc COVID-19 Impact Study Committee is made up of Councilors Al Mandler, Tom McNally and Billy Caron. The committee approved items in its Jan. 11 meeting to present to the Town Council on Thursday. According to the minutes, some items on the list include: $75,000 for fire department turnout gear; $146,000 for 20 self-contained breathing apparatus for fire services; $100,000 for rapid COVID-19 home tests and $800,000 for renovations to the dog pound.

The meeting will be open to the public.
