Waterford police and Rep. McCarty collect blankets for seniors

Waterford — State Rep. Kathleen McCarty, R-Waterford, and the town's police department have partnered to do a fleece blanket collection ahead of Valentine's Day for residents of the town's three nursing homes.

Blankets will be collected until Feb. 11 at three locations in town: Town Hall at 15 Rope Ferry Road, Community Center at 24 Rope Ferry Road and the police department at 41 Avery Lane.

"With cold weather upon us, now is a perfect time to share the warmth of the Valentine's Day holiday with others by donating a fleece blanket to a local nursing home resident," McCarty said. "Every donation makes a difference which will undoubtedly brighten a resident's day while also keeping them warm."

She and police will distribute the donated blankets on Feb. 14, Valentine's Day, to residents of Waterford's Greentree Manor, New London Rehab & Care and Bayview Healthcare.
