State Rep. Holly Cheeseman endorsed by Republicans in the 37th House District

East Lyme — State Rep. Holly Cheeseman, R-East Lyme, has announced that she was unanimously endorsed by Republicans in the 37th state House District to run for a fourth consecutive term in November.

The district includes the towns of East Lyme, Salem and, after redistricting, a portion of Montville.

State Sen. Paul Formica of East Lyme, who serves with Cheeseman on the legislature's Energy & Technology Committee as the ranking member from the Senate, nominated her at the Republican convention held Wednesday at the East Lyme Senior Center.

“Holly’s grasp of the issues, coupled with her compassion and dedication, make her an outstanding state representative,” Formica said. “She brings an impressive intellect, tireless energy, and a true love of service to this post and all her constituents in the 37th district are fortunate to have Holly on their side, fighting for them in Hartford.”

A ranking member of the Finance, Revenue and Bonding Committee, Cheeseman said she will continue to support police and victims of crime. She said she has qualified for the Citizens Election Program by receiving 175 campaign contributions from constituents and raising more than $10,000.

"I am humbled and gratified by this unanimous endorsement,” she said in a news release. “I love the job because it enables me to help people with the complex, everyday issues we face in these difficult times, ranging from working to keep Connecticut affordable to improving the lives of victims of domestic violence.”

Cheeseman, 67, also said she will work toward giving parents a greater voice in determining education policies and helping to protect the interests of the towns and their businesses.
