Fair housing topic of upcoming virtual seminar

New London — Fair housing laws and obligations will be the subject of an upcoming virtual seminar aimed at educating landlords, property managers, real estate professionals and others.

The May 26 virtual training, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, will take participants through the process of how fair housing investigations are conducted as well as who is protected and what types of housing are covered, prohibitions and more.

“The training will be extremely helpful for this particular audience,” Judi Cox, housing and community outreach coordinator with the Office of Community Development in New London, said.

“As part of our state-required Affordable Housing Plan we are required to offer education and training to our community, so this training fits in perfectly,” she said.

A question-and-answer session will follow the training. Questions regarding fair housing laws and requirements may be submitted in advance by emailing Jon.P.Thomas@hud.gov.

The seminar starts at 11 a.m. on May 26. Visit the https://apps.hud.gov/emarc to register.

Comment threads are monitored for 48 hours after publication and then closed.
