    First day on the water for beginner sailors in East Lyme

    East Lyme — Beginner sailors participating in the Niantic Bay Sailing Academy spent their first day out on the water Wednesday.

    Under the guidance of instructor Sara Bouchard, the youngsters were learning to sail Optimist sailboats at the Niantic Bay Yacht Club, 8 Shore Road. The academy, a nonprofit, is based at the yacht club.
