    Cutting their own flowers

Friends Brooke Lathe, left, and Lia Cruz, of Meriden, decided which sunflower to cut as they pick flowers at the Cut Your Own Flower garden at Scotts' Farm & Garden in Waterford Tuesday, August 16, 2022. The friends normally have Tuesdays off from work together and try to go on some adventure. This was their first time at the garden, after they had seen a friend post about it on social media “I’m definitely coming back, my mom would love this,” said Cruz. The garden, as well as the farm stand, is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Flowers are available for cutting through the first frost, which is normally sometime in October, at $8.99 per lb.
