Norwich ― Norwich police swore in a new police officer recruit Wednesday and announced he will start training at the Police Academy in Meriden on Thursday.

Evan Carollo of Milford, a 2016 graduate of Jonathan Law High school in Milford, where he played baseball and basketball, formerly worked as a special officer for the Fairfield Police Department, Norwich police said.

Carollo is expected to graduate from the Police Academy in April 2023. He will then begin an extensive Field Orientation Training Program and upon completion will be assigned to a shift within the department’s patrol division.
