New London K-9 program gets $10,000 boost

New London ― The New London Police Department on Tuesday accepted a $10,000 donation for its K-9 program.

The money was donated by retired State Police Trooper Bill Flanagan and presented to New London Police Chief Brian Wright and Mayor Michael Passero on behalf of the estate of Jean Sorensen. Sorensen was an animal lover and supporter of the law enforcement community.

Police said the money will be used towards the purchase of a new dog for the department and additional program needs.
