Water main leak in New London
New London ― Repairs were underway Monday afternoon after a water main burst on Connecticut Avenue.
A representative from Veolia North America, the city’s water supplier, said personnel had responded to the apparent leak in a 6-inch main along the road. Traffic restrictions were expected near Connecticut Avenue and West Coit Street.
Residents in the vicinity were told to expect a loss of water pressure and/or service while repairs are underway.
Joe Lanzafame, the city’s public utilities director, said Monday afternoon the flow of water had slowed down and workers were working to shut it off and fix the main. Lanzafame said the road has been damaged and will need repaving.
