Groton Town police officer involved in crash

Groton ― A police officer is recovering at home after his cruiser was rear-ended Friday morning, according to Groton Town Police Chief Louis Fusaro Jr.

Fusaro said there were two accidents along Fort Hill Road around 7:30 a.m., one that involved the officer. He said the cruiser was rear-ended by another vehicle and sustained substantial damage.

Fusaro said both parties involved in the incident were taken to Pequot Health Center in Groton. He said the officer was later treated and released.

Fusaro added a contributing factor to the incident could have been sun glare as the road is on an incline, but police are investigating other factors.
