The gift of flowers at Fisher Florist
Since 1910, Fisher Florist has thrived in the New London community as a highly recommended shop for floral arrangements. Since opening in 1910, this floral business has been family owned and is composed of fourth-generation florists.
Owner George Fisher returned from military service as a young adult only planning to work in the shop for six months. Years later, he took over the business after finding his passion.
George Fisher describes how he fell in love with the idea that he could “brighten your day, if only for a few moments.” Fisher made the decision to downsize his business from gourmet baskets into smaller arrangements in hopes for a more personal experience. His goal was to create a business that was “smaller, more intimate, and personal.”
Long-standing customers like Nora Rice appreciate this sentiment. She began to buy flowers in 1985 after her mother’s death. Fisher became her go-to person for any floral arrangement. She appreciated the “personalized attention to [her] needs…” and that every Christmas, her arrangements were simply “the freshest.”
The same trust exists in her daughter Victoria, who has also gone to Fisher for wedding flowers, birthday occasions, and even her daughter’s prom corsage. Fisher said he often stays late in the store to make a custom order to ensure a fresh product for his customer.
Fisher Florist specializes in arrangements for weddings, funerals, holiday events, and bouquets. There is a wide range of delivery options: in-store pickup, curb-side pickup, and same-day delivery. Every arrangement that Fisher creates is hand-delivered.
He offers many options that reach to every part of the community with arrangements for Christmas, Hanukkah, loss of a pet, “I’m sorry” flowers, romance, birthdays, “Thank you” and more. Flowers can brighten anyone’s day, having been a vital part of gift giving throughout history.
