Mystic Seaport acquires water taxi service in downtown Mystic
Mystic ― Mystic Seaport Museum announced it has acquired Historic Harbor Tours of Mystic and will begin operating a water taxi service from downtown to the museum beginning in May.
The 17-passenger vessel, which has provided guided tours of the Mystic River as the Mystic Express since 2006, will be renamed Mystic Seaport Express and will run in a continuous loop from the refurbished dock in front of S&P Oyster Company to the north and south ends of the museum.
“Arriving at Mystic Seaport Museum by sea is a truly magical experience,” said Chris Gasiorek, the museum’s vice president of operations and watercraft in a news release. “This added shuttle service will allow local visitors to include a trip to the museum as part of their overall Mystic experience. Downtown shopping, getting out on the water and visiting the Museum are a trifecta of Mystic experiences and we're excited to offer this expanded service."
Shuttle service rates will be $33 for adults, $31 for senior citizens 65 and older, $29 for children aged 13-17, and $24 for children four to 12 and will include admission to the museum. Tickets will be available at the S & P Oyster dock.
The Mystic Seaport Express will also accept private charter groups and will offer dock and dine rentals at the S & P Oyster Dock.
