A March 12 benefit concert at St. James Episcopal Church, in New London, will help support the Efforts of a Maryland-based nonprofit to outfit Ukrainian soldiers severely wounded in the ongoing war with Russia with prosthetic limbs.

The “Climb Ev’ry Mountain” concert will feature performances by Elisabeth von Trapp, who carries on the legacy the famous Trapp Family Singers, and Peppino D’Agostino, an internationally acclaimed acoustic guitarist. Joining them will be members of The Anglican Singers, as well as the choirs of St. James and of St. Ann’s Episcopal Church, in Old Lyme. The 3 p.m. event will begin with a presentation by William Endicott of Bethesda, Md., co-founder of Operation Renew Prosthetics.

“We are so honored to be hosting this event at St. James Church,” said the Rev. Denise Cabana, priest-in-charge of St. James. “Our hope is to raise enough funds make a difference in even one soldier’s life and to let the people of Ukraine know that they are not forgotten.”

Net proceeds raised through ticket sales and sponsorships will be sent to Operation Renew Prosthetics, which has been arranging for the transport and care of Ukrainian soldiers in need of artificial limbs.

Bob and Maria D’Amelia of Lisbon, lead organizers of the concert, said have been excited and gratified by the outpouring of enthusiasm and generosity for the project from the southeastern Connecticut community and beyond.
