Groton ― Police said there will be road closures in Mystic Saturday between 8 a.m. and noon for the Annual Mystic Irish 5K Road Race.

The event is sponsored by the Town of Groton’s Parks and Recreation department and held in conjunction with the Mystic Irish Parade on Sunday.

The start and finish of the race are on Pearl Street, which will be closed between Clift Street and West Main Street, from 8 a.m. until the end of the race.

Clift Street, Grove Avenue, Starr Street and Gravel Street will experience road closures and traffic back-ups just before the start of the race at 10 a.m. These closures are expected to last a short period of time.

Access to River Road from Bindloss Road and Route 27 will be closed just before the start of the race and will reopen as soon as safety permits.
