    Plainfield woman dead, New London man injured in fiery Lisbon crash

    Lisbon ― A 27-year-old Plainfield woman was killed Monday night in a one-vehicle crash here that left a New London man seriously injured.

    At approximately 10:19 p.m., a 2000 Dodge Ram Wagon driven by Rafy Torres, 34, of 14 Ledge Road in New London, veered from the right lane of Interstate 395 north between exits 18 and 19 before striking a bridge abutment for the Preston Allen Road overpass, state police said.

    Police said a fire began and the vehicle was engulfed in flames. Passenger Anjelly Berrios, 27 Gallup St., Plainfield, was pronounced dead at the scene.

    Torres was transported to Backus Hospital in Norwich for treatment of serious injuries.

    The state police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Squad is assisting with the investigation. Anyone with information on the crash is asked to contact Trooper Timothy Wengloski or Trooper Christopher Brett at (860) 848-6500, ext. 5.
