New London ― Sidewalks on Bank and State Streets were more crowded than normal on Wednesday night as businesses stayed open late and restaurants opened their doors for the New London Food Stroll.

“It’s not too often that you’re eating Thai food in a record store,” laughed Louis Profft as he ate a sample of vegetable pineapple fried rice from Noodles & Rice while browsing at The Telegraph. The Connecticut College sophomore was excited to find a copy of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” on vinyl and posed for a photo taken by his friends.

Over 20 stops were on this years map, which featured local restaurants, businesses, nonprofits and musicians.

David Job, of New London, and Karina Lynch, visiting from Wareham, Mass., ate samples of mac and cheese outside of The Blue Duck Bar & Kitchen as a line formed outside the restaurant.

“It’s nice to see people out and about in New London,” said Job. “And the food is good.”

Included with ticket purchase, attendees received samples of food or drinks from local restaurants as well as a ticket to see “Mystic Pizza” at the Garde Art Center.

Judges for the annual event included food writer Kristin L. Wolfe, state Rep. Anthony Nolan and UPS driver Jo Rodriguez.
