Dubitsky reelected in 47th House District

Incumbent Republican state Rep. Doug Dubitsky appeared to coast to an easy victory over Democratic challenger Aaron Spruance on Tuesday night, based on unofficial and partial results.

According to results posted on the Secretary of the State’s elections results database, Dubitsky had received 7,539 to Democratic challenger Spruance’s 4,492. No results from Brooklyn were included in the totals. The sprawling, mostly rural district covers Brooklyn, Canterbury, Chaplin, Lisbon, northern Norwich, Plainfield, Scotland and Sprague.

Dubitsky said Wednesday morning he did not yet have complete results and had not heard from Spruance.

“It appears from unofficial results the people in the district have put their trust in me, and think I did a good job and put me back for another two years,” Dubitsky said. “I will continue to fight hard for them.”

Dubitsky, 61, an attorney from Chaplin, is completing his sixth term.
