Lanoue reelected in 45th state House District
Three-term incumbent Republican state Rep. Brian Lanoue was reelected by a wide margin Tuesday night over Democratic candidate Kayla Thompson, who did not actively campaign.
According to results posted Wednesday morning on the Secretary of the State’s website, Lanoue received 9,027 votes to Thompson’s 5,500 in the district that covers Griswold, Preston, Voluntown and parts of Ledyard and Lisbon.
Thompson had put her name forward as a placeholder hoping another candidate would come forward but kept her name on the ballot after no other challenger emerged.
Lanoue, 42, a businessman from Griswold, said Wednesday he appreciated the strong support he continues to receive from voters in the district and urged voters to continue to reach out to him with their concerns.
“I thank the people in the five towns in the 45th District,” Lanoue said. “It’s a humbling experience to represent your neighbors and neighboring towns.”
