Groton Town Police to hold open house to recruit new officers

Groton ― The Groton Town Police Department will hold a recruitment open house on Nov. 20 for those interested in becoming a police officer.

The open house will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the police department’s headquarters at 68 Groton Long Point Road.

The department is hiring and looking for qualified applicants to attend the Connecticut Police Academy beginning in January.

Officers will be on hand to provide an inside look at opportunities, including K-9, marine patrol, detective and community policing. People can also learn about the hiring process and pay, benefits and retirement.

The department said space at the open house is extremely limited. People can sign up for the open house at: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/groton-police-recruitment-open-house-tickets-1075665276799?aff=oddtdtcreator&fbclid=IwZXh0bgNhZW0CMTAAAR2QKTAOgE92oyWyp6ElEO4h6_Fxrag1_SyIdAXcwFFNFIUTbA0TtPcCbGE_aem_NxNpsRQ-7oKHa2UMj7Au7g.

The Connecticut Police Chief’s Association is offering an online written test Nov. 24, and the police department encourages interested applicants to register for that at: https://www.policeapp.com/Police-Associations/CPCA-Consortium/.
