    Local roundup: Tigers fall to Spinners

    Lowell, Mass. — Luis Alexander Basabe hit a walk-off, two-run single with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Lowell Spinners rallied to beat the Connecticut Tigers on Saturday, 3-2, in a New York-Penn League game played before 4,032 at Edward A. LeLacheur Park.

    Josh Ockimey hit a leadoff single in the Spinners’ half of the ninth. Pinch runner Aneudis Peralta went to third base when Mitchell Gunsolus reached second on a two-base error. Austin Rei walked to load the bases.

    Kyri Washington hit into a fielder’s choice to force out Peralta at home. Basabe followed with a ground ball to right field to score the tying and winning runs.

    Brandon Magee singled and scored for Lowell (25-23).

    John Lester hit a solo home run for the Tigers (24-24), which had just four hits.

    • Josh Vincent pitched a one-hitter as the Shoreline Riptide beat the CT Crush 6-0. Kolby Reggione drove in two runs, Eddie Santiago had an RBI double and Seth Hoagland and Chance Gendron each had two hits and an RBI for the Riptide. Buddy Dewaine had the hit for the Crush.

    • Slater Gregory went the distance as the Bulldogs beat Waterford 3-1. Jordan Kowalski, Mike Morgan and Izzy Davila scored for the Bulldogs and Alex Petchark drove in a run for Waterford.

    Potvin tournament U18

    • David Kennedy pitched a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts as the Connecticut Crush beat the Bulldogs, 2-0, in the winners' bracket final. Dylan DelaCruz had two hits and two RBI.

    In an earlier game, Matt Spang had two hits and recorded the last six outs in relief as the Connecticut Crush edged the Clubhouse Cadets, 5-4. Marcus Melendez added three hits.
