    Local roundup: Mitchell men roll past Elms 86-58 in NECC

    New London — Mitchell College went on an early 11-0 run and cruised to an 86-58 victory of Elms College in a New England Collegiate Conference men's basketball game on Tuesday night at the Yarnall Athletic Center.

    Domenico Santiago led the Mariners (2-3, 1-1) with 15 points and a game-high 14 rebounds while Matt Final added 13 points and four assists, Hasani Williams had 12 points and eight rebounds, and Steffen Brunson finished with 10 points, five rebounds and four assists.

    Mitchell closed the first half with a 17-6 run to open a 46-26 lead at the break and led by as many as 30 points in the second half.

    Women's basketball

    Massasoit Community College outscored UConn Avery Point 29-10 in the fourth quarter to pull away for a 93-60 victory in Region 21 play. Mia Brennan led the Pointers (6-2, 6-1) with 21 points while Kenya Capers added 13 points and 10 rebounds and Julitza Delgado finished with 12 points and five steals.

    • The sites and times have been announced for Saturday's CIAC championship games. Shelton High School's Finn Stadium will host the Class M final between No. 1 St. Joseph (11-1) and No. 3 Berlin (11-1) at 10 a.m., followed by the Class LL final between No. 2 Greenwich (12-0) and No. 8 New Canaan (10-2) at 2 p.m. New Britain's Willow Brook Park will host the Class S final between No. 4 Bloomfield (11-1) and No. 7 Haddam-Killingworth (11-1) at 10 a.m., followed by the Class L final between No. 1 Hand (12-0) and No. 7 Maloney (10-2) at 2 p.m.
