UConn agrees to football series with Duke

Storrs — UConn announced on Monday that it has agreed to a two game football series with Duke, starting in 2023.

The Huskies will host the Blue Devils at Rentschler Field in East Hartford on Sept. 2, 2023. They'll travel to Durham, N.C. to face Duke on Sept. 14, 2024.

The two have met just two times, with UConn holding a 2-0 series lead. The Huskies won 22-20 in 2004 at Rentschler Field and posted a 45-15 decision on the road in 2007.

Schooners' Kelly honored

• Shane Kelly, a Mystic Schooner outfielder, has earned the first New England Collegiate Baseball League Player of the Week award this season. Kelly, who attends Bryant University, had a league high 10 hits in 22 at-bats for a .455 average while helping the Schooners open the season by winning five straight. He also added five RBI, scored four runs, had two doubles and a home run.
