    Conn College qualifies for NCAA Division III men's soccer tourney

    New London — For the third straight season, the Connecticut College men's soccer team has qualified for the NCAA Division III tournament.

    The 18th-ranked Camels (10-3-3) received an at-large bid when the 64-team field was announced on Monday. They'll play host Catholic University (18-2-1) in Washington, D.C., at 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the first round action.

    Saturday's winner will face either Johns Hopkins or John Jay in the second round on Sunday at 3 p.m.

    Conn finished the season strong, going 3-0-1 in its last four games. The Camels lost their New England Small College Athletic Conference quarterfinal tournament game to Middlebury on penalty kicks.

    Last season, the Camels won their first NCAA tournament game in program history, beating Thomas College 4-0 at home. They were eliminated by Ramapo, 1-0. in the second round.

    Reuben Burk, a former assistant coach under Kenny Murphy, took over as head coach this season. It is the first time in program history that the Camels have qualified for three consecutive NCAA bids and it is their fourth berth overall.

    Conn is one of four NESCAC teams in the NCAA field, joining Amherst, Tufts and Middlebury.

    It is Catholic's first NCAA appearance since 2014.
