Local roundup: Sun sign forward Mompremier to qualifying offer

Mohegan — The Connecticut Sun announced Monday that Beatrice Mompremier has accepted and signed a qualifying offer and will return to the WNBA franchise in 2021.

"Beatrice was a fantastic addition and showed impactful moments throughout her rookie season," general manager and head coach Curt Miller said in a release. "She immediately helped us with rim protection and rebounding at both ends of the court. She has a bright future, and we are excited to watch her growth in 2021."

The 6-foot-4 forward, who played at Miami, was the No. 20 overall pick in the 2020 WNBA Draft by the Los Angeles Sparks. She was later waived and signed with the Sun and was a solid contributor off the bench, averaging 2.3 points and 3.3 rebounds in just 8.9 minutes per game. She had a career high 16 rebounds during a game against the Las Vegas Aces on Sept. 3 when she also blocked four shots.
