    Local roundup: Hahn, Xu spark East Lyme past NFA in swimming

    East Lyme — Nikki Hahn and Grace Xu won two events each as East Lyme beat Norwich Free Academy 93-73 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference swimming meet on Friday.

    Hahn won the 50-yard freestyle (26.09) and 100 breaststroke (1:10.47) and Xu won the 100 butterfly (1:12.16) and 100 backstroke (1:06.98). Anna Lu, Lauren Hinckley and Sandra Kirvelevicius als won events for East Lyme (2-0, 2-0) and Hannah Socha, Donna Park, Kristin Timpano, Hahn and Kirvelevicius helped the Vikings win two relays.

    Natalie Bezanson and Dylan Levine won events for NFA (2-2, 1-1) and Stephanie Wells, Jessica Cheung, Willow Ludlow and Amy Carlosviza won the 400 freestyle relays for the Wildcats.

    In other meets:

    • Isabelle Bove-Dumin, Julia Gathy and Erin Gerboth won two events each as Waterford beat Ledyard 98-76 in an ECC meet. Bove-Dumin won the 200-meter freestyle (2:36.81) and 100 butterfly (1:18.96), Gathy won the 200 intermediate relay (2:55.84) and 100 freestyle (1:11.16) and Gerboth won the 50 freestyle (33.22) and 400 freestyle (5:31.32) and the three teamed with Elizabeth Blain to win the 200 medley relay in 2:32.90.

    Hannah Ard and Elizabeth Saucier also won events for Waterford (1-3, 102). Jillian Anderson won and event and was on a winning relay team for Ledyard (0-4, 0-3). Alexandra Martinez-Garcia, Emma Cassidy, Robin Zemlo, Thelma Grogan, Kamila Flores and Catherine McKenzie hepled the Colonels win a pair of relays.

    H.S. volleyball

    • Unbeaten Fitch beat NFA 3-0 in the ECC Division I opener for both teams. Annalyn Cahill had 10 kills, Rita Sefransky had 16 assists and Katie Tuohy had five kills and two blocks for Fitch (6-0). Miah Grant had 11 digs and Alba Rodriguez had nine points and three aces for NFA (1-3).

    • Maddie Thompson had nine aces as Old Lyme beat Cromwell 3-0 in a Shoreline Conference match. Melanie Warren had three kills and Abby Speckhals had five assists for Old Lyme (4-3, 4-3), which won 25-4, 25-6, 25-6.

    • Griswold beat Ledyard 3-1 in the ECC Division II opener for both teams. Hailey Eliasson had 32 digs and three kills, Kuranda Ruggiero had 20 assists, four kills and eight digs and Sonja Matheson had 13 kills and 12 digs for Griswold (5-1), which won 25-19, 25-14, 20-25, 27-25. Layla Lasisomphone had 26 assists and three aces, Paige Perkins had 11 kills and two blocks, Grace Haydash had 13 kills and nine digs and Bryleigh Johnson had 17 digs for Ledyard (4-3).

    • Wilcox Tech defeated Norwich Tech 25-16, 25-13 and 25-17 in the Connecticut Technical Conference. Gabriela Diaz had five aces and Autumn Lovett 11 assists for the Warriors (3-3).

    H.S. cross country

    • Ledyard's girls finished fourth overall and second in the S/M division, while the Ledyard boys finished eighth overall at the YMCA Camp Sloper Invitational in Southington. The Ledyard girls had three runners finish in the top 20 and finished with 91 points while the Colonel boys finished with 224 points. Clare Inyang led the Ledyard girls by placing seventh overall in 22:40 over the 5K course while Victoria Schweitzer was 16th in 24:28 and Avery Widlicka was 19th in 24:39. Trumbull won the girls' race with 34. Hayden Baber was the top Ledyard boys' finisher in 19th (20:05). Wilbur Cross won the team title with 60.

    Men's tennis

    • Coast Guard had three athletes compete in the ITA Fall Championships at Bowdoin. Banks Evans lost to Ethan Bradley of Bowdoin, 6-3, 4-6, 7-6. Myles Decoste lost 6-1, 6-2, to Noah Lillenthal on Wesleyan and Sean Dreher and Decoste lost in doubles to Harris Foulkes and Edred Opie of Amherst, 8-4.

    College field hockey

    • No. 13 Liberty beat No. 16 UConn 3-1 in a Big East Conference game. Abby Gooderham scored and Cheyenne Sprecher made 12 saves for UConn (4-5, 1-1).
