    Local roundup: Robles leads Conn to men's soccer victory

    Clinton, N.Y. — Alex Robles scored a pair of goals as the Connecticut College men's soccer team beat Hamilton 3-1 in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game on Sunday.

    Jake Gehron also scored, Alessandro Horvath Diano had a pair of assists and Augie Djerdjaj had an assist for the Camels (4-2, 3-1). 

    Women's soccer

    • Conn College and Hamilton played 110 minutes without a score, as the NESCAC game ended in a scoreless tie in double overtime. Sarah Hall made 13 saves for Conn (3-1-1, 2-1-1).

    • Mitchell College lost to Curry 6-0. Gemma Landry had 20 saves for Mitchell (2-5-1).

    College field hockey

    • Hamilton beat Conn College 3-1 in a NESCAC game. Rowan Galanis scored a goal, Jackie Mountford made 12 saves and Elektra Rodger had an assist for Conn (1-5, 0-4). 

    H.S. girls' soccer

    • Brooke Bolles had a goal and two assists as NFA beat Fitch 6-0 in an Eastern Connecticut Conference Division I game on Saturday. Jordan Fabry had a goal and an assist and Hannah Daniewicz, Kayleigh Andrew, Julia Grant and Hailey Iozzia each scored a goal for NFA (1-2-3, 1-1-1).

    • Williams School lost to Westover 3-1 on Saturday. Skylar Frost scored a goal and the defense was led by Alex Leake, Sophia Guinan and goalie Olivia Guinan for Williams (1-3).

    H.S. cross country

    • Williams School hosted a coed tri-meet on Saturday against Fishers Island and Eagle Hill and finished second. Philip Knowlton was the top Williams finisher, coming in second in 20:11, and teammate Tyler Boissevain was fourth (21:56). The girls' team was led by Avery Ruhe (27:04) and Helen Godshall (27:42). 

    College cross country

    • Mitchell College competed at the Elms College Blazer Classic on Saturday, finishing fifth in the men's 8K race with the women coming in sixth in the 6K race. Former NFA runner Evan Carney led the men's team, with a 10th-place finish (32:41) and Montville's Abigail Rasmussen led the women's team with an eighth-place finish (28:15).

    Men's tennis

    • Julien Tien of Conn College won a pair of matches at the ITA New England Regionals at Bowdoin. Tien beat Ross DeRose of Trinity, 6-4, 7-6 (11), in the round of 64 before losing to Tristan Bradley of Bowdoin in the round of 32, 6-2, 6-3. Tien also teamed with Henry De Coster in doubles to win 8-2 in the round of 64 before losing 8-1 in the round of 32.

    Women's tennis

    • Conn College opened its season with a 4-3 loss to Division I Holy Cross. Caitlin Cass and Brooke Scully won their matches for Conn along with the Camels getting the doubles point with the teams of Alexis Tsang-Cass and Caroline Champa-Teagan O'Hara winning.

    Auto racing

    • Jacob Burns won the 35-lap Legends race while Jason Palmer, who finished second in the Legends race, won the 30-lap Late Models race on Saturday night, highlighting an eight-race card at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl.

    Other winners included Jason Chicolas (25-lap Street Stocks), Charles Canfield (25-lap Mini Stocks), Ken Cassidy of Lisbon (25-lap Speedbowl Trucks) and Milania Shilosky of Colchester (20-lap Bandoleros). There were a pair of Super-X Fall Shootout races and Ed Ryan Jr. of Preston won the 25-lap race while Devin Tate of Preston won the 20-lap race.

    • Derek Debbis of Oakdale won his seventh SK Light race of the season on Saturday night at Stafford Speedway. Debbis won the 20-lap race, Alexander Pearl of Salem was third, Tyler Barry of Griswold was sixth, Mark Bakaj of Lebanon was eighth and Amanda West of Colchester finished 19th.
