Elise Roselle Hanks, daughter of Edwin and Sherry Hanks of Ledyard, and David Lee Billing Jr., son of David and Elaine Billing of Gales Ferry, were united in marriage on Sept. 23, 2017.

The ceremony and reception were held at the Stone House in Stonington, an estate first built by the bride’s family in 1825. Elise and David graduated from Ledyard High School in 2007, and received bachelor’s degrees from Middlebury College and Harvard University, respectively. They reconnected in New York City (six years after their first date!) where Elise moved to pursue nonprofit strategy and communications and David matriculated at Columbia College of Physician and Surgeon into the MD-Ph.D program.

Elise is managing communications for the City University of New York School of Law; David was awarded his Ph.D in cellular, molecular and biomedical studies in 2017 and will graduate from the program in May of 2019.

The couple plans to honeymoon in Europe (Oktoberfest!) and resides in Manhattan with their Siamese cat, Hal.
