    USS Grayback class joins the fleet

    Groton — Sixty-nine sailors of "Class 18240," USS Grayback, graduated from Basic Enlisted Submarine School, on May 11.

    Seaman Christopher Coolidge was class honor graduate with a 96.90 GPA. Coolidge continues training in tactical computer network operations.

    Fireman Welby Burgone was recipient of the Submarine Heritage Award.

    Seaman Cody Blackburn received the Navy Core Values Award.

    Machinist's Mate Nuclear Power 3rd Class Trevor Dobrowski, Seaman Kristopher Hansgen, Seaman Recruit Isaac Bahr, Fireman Morgan Dubois, Fireman Recruit Wyatt McNeese, Seaman Recruit Felipe AvilaGroesbeck, and Seaman Jacob Osowski joined Blackburn as graduates with distinction.

    Basic Enlisted Submarine School is a six-week introduction to the basic theory, construction and operation of nuclear-powered submarines. In preparation for an assignment, sailors receive instruction on shipboard organization, submarine safety and escape procedures.
