New London native graduates from Marine Corps' Officer Candidate School

New London native Fredrick Douglas Hewett, 27, graduated on Nov. 17 from the United States Marine Corps Officer Candidate School at Quantico, Va.

Hewett emerged from two months of intensive training as a commissioned officer, a second lieutenant. Hewett earned a bachelor's degree of communication from Eastern Connecticut State University and studied forensic pathology at American International College in Springfield, Mass. He is the son of Patricia and Ernest Hewett, a former state representative for New London.
