Groton — Team New London, a group made of all the support commands on the Naval Submarine Base, gave three cheers as the USS New Mexico (SSN 779) returns to its homeport at the base in Groton Friday. The Virginia-class attack submarine traveled more than 36,000 nautical miles and visited ports in Haakonsvern, Norway, Rota, Spain and Faslane, Scotland, during its regularly scheduled deployment.
