DVD tip: "Tully"
I saw “Tully” in the movie theater, but I might watch it on DVD so I can see things anew — and maybe rewind a couple of times. You’ll know why after you see it yourself. This drama infused with dark comedy is about parenting, and it’s from “Juno” writer Diablo Cody and director Jason Reitman. Marlo (wonderfully portrayed by Charlize Theron) is having her third child. She’s exhausted and burdened. Her brother offers a night nanny to help, and that nanny (Mackenzie Davis) does wonders. This is a no-spoilers zone, so I won’t say much more except that I loved this movie and hope Oscar voters remember it when it comes time for nominations. There are moments where you’ll think the whole movie is heading off the rails — but it’s not.
