Drive-in movies had become retro rarities, but the pandemic brought a whole new audience to the remaining ones. After all, at drive-ins, everyone is outdoors and hanging with their own carload/pod.

The Misquamicut Drive-In Theater in Westerly definitely drew fresh fans during the summer of 2020, but this site has always been very popular — for good reason. It’s a fun night out, not expensive ($20-$25 per carload, so pile your friends in), and right across the street from the beach.

Coming up on the big screen: “Titanic” on Friday, “Bohemian Rhapsody” on Saturday, “The Perfect Storm” on Sunday, and the original “Top Gun” on Monday. The main lot gates open at 6:30 p.m., and the movies start at 9 p.m. Offerings continue on weekends through the fall. The drive-in is sponsored by the Misquamicut Business Association.
